1959 Austin A95 Six
Reg. no. 425 DAF
Chassis no. BS6HCS71500
Engine no. AEC1175AD

1956 saw the introduction of the A95 version of the Austin Westminster. Developed from 1954’s A90, it was now longer and more powerful, and while the styling remained similar, it was updated somewhat to give the A95 even more of an American look, as was the fashion at the time. As before, the car was fitted with BMC’s 2.6-litre C-Series straight-six – the same engine as fitted to the Healey 100/6, and as in the Healey, in the A95 it was found in twin-carb form. This gave 91bhp, giving these large cars good performance for the time, with a top speed of close to 100mph. The A95 Westminster was a well-regarded, reliable and strong car, also offering a good level of comfort for the time, and they continue to be popular classics.
This 1959 A95 is from the last year of production of this style of Westminster, before the arrival of the ‘Farina’ models later the same year. In good all-round condition, with a very welcoming red leather interior, it has been little used in recent years, but is running well. MOT exempt, it comes with a current V5C.
