2000 Porsche Boxster Convertible – 15,400 miles from new!
Reg. no. V915 KRX
Chassis no. WPOZZZ98ZYS600345
Engine no. WPOZZZ
The 986 Boxster had its origins in a show car Porsche presented at the 1993 North American International Auto Show; the public reception for this concept car was so rapturous and enthusiastic, that Porsche decided to put it into production with minimal styling changes. The resulting Boxster – the 986, in Porsche’s internal numbering system – was launched in 1996 and has proved a popular and enduring model since then, running through four generations to the present day. The success came at a good time for Porsche, which had been struggling with aging models and a lack of clear direction; indeed, many credit the Boxster with saving the company.
On launch, the car came with a mid-mounted 2.5 litre water-cooled flat six. In 1999, this was replaced with a 2.7 litre unit, which was both more powerful and stronger. Boxsters came with a choice of manual or ‘tiptronic’ automatic gearboxes; with the Tiptronic gearbox, a 2.7 litre example like this car would accelerate from 0-60 in 7.2 seconds and continue to 152mph. This performance complimented the cars excellent handling – with the flat-6 helping achieve a low centre of gravity, and the mid-mounted layout providing perfect weight distribution, a Boxster is one of the most enjoyable of all sports cars. Today, first-generation Boxsters are deservedly regarded as modern classics.
This remarkably low-mileage late 1999, 2000 model year Boxster was first registered in Tokyo to the Air Attache at the British Embassy. Imported to the UK in August 2000 by the same original owner, it has only covered 15,400 miles at the time of writing. It is accompanied by full Porsche service and MOT history, with eight Porsche stamps in the service book, the last from Porsche Swindon at 13,160 miles. The car has been garaged all its life and is totally original in every respect, with no repairs or restoration having been carried out or needed. With just two owners from new – the first a very light user of the car, and the current a collector – this Boxster represents a very rare opportunity to acquire an almost factory-fresh modern classic. It comes with the aforementioned service and MOT history, plenty of invoices, and a fully fitted indoor car cover.
