June 26th – Motorcycles and Spares

This Saturday we will be holding our first live, ‘in-the-room’ motorcycle sale since last autumn. The date, as you can imagine, was set for the first weekend out of lockdown, post ‘hug day’, however, that has been postponed so once again we find ourselves setting out the Covid-secure plans. We’ll go into that detail below but let’s put that to one side, as one can in an email, and focus on the positives – a fantastic collection of bikes on offer – 70 in all and 160 spares!

As desperate as we all are to return to bidding ‘in-the-room’, we’re mindful of the risks still there and have sought advice. We are able to confirm that we can offer in-the-room bidding but this is limited. To invite a select number of customers would of course be an impossible quest for us. We will not make our sales exclusive and so here is our offering. There are to be no reserved seats, it will not be a first come first served on the day either. What we suggest is a fair turn-around and so we can have a set number of people in the room (the number has not yet been fixed and will depend of measurements taken once the bikes have all arrived and are in place). This will work fairly if customers come in for the lots they are interested in and exit temporarily afterwards. The barn doors will be open and we will take bids from outside in the carpark with a porter mediating when necessary. To be fair to all, no-one will be able to reside in the saleroom for the duration of the sale regardless of the number of lots that hold interest unless the number attending is below the number we can accommodate. The situation is far from ideal but we ask you to be patient with us and fellow bidders, this is a trial for us all and will only work if we’re all mindful of one-another. We desperately want this to work and will do our utmost to smooth the process for you and we are of course pleased we can return to seeing our bidders and offering the opportunity to view the bikes in person. To manage numbers we ask please that you email or call the office to notify us of your intent to attend. Please supply your name and contact number. If numbers are looking to get out of hand we’ll need to limit numbers but we’re not anticipating that at this stage.

If you are able to view before the day then we advise that you do, as with the limited numbers able to view at one time, viewing may be difficult for Saturday’s viewers.

Viewing: Thursday 10am-5pm, Friday 10am-5pm, Saturday from 8.30am, Sale starting at 10am for spares and approximately 11.15am for bikes.

Buying at Richard Edmonds Auctions

Richard Edmonds Auctions operates its sales using a paddle system. If you wish to bid you must first register, please download the form (PDF file) and email it to us. In exchange, you are given a paddle – a card printed with your personal number for the sale.

Please complete the absentee bidding form at least two hours before the sale to allow us time to process the registration. You will need to provide your name, address, and proof of identity and residence, for example your passport or driving license, together with your credit card. Please sign the form and return it to us via email. This is also the form you should complete if you wish to book a telephone bid; these are provided on a first come first served basis.

Bidding over the telephone

Telephone bids are available on a first-come-first-served basis. You will need to complete a Telephone Bid Form (PDF file) and scan into an email along with two proofs of identity: copy of your passport or driver’s licence and a credit card. On the day of the sale, a Richard Edmonds Auctions representative will telephone you about five lots before your lots come under the hammer.

Commission Bids

Commission bids must be received at least two hours in advance. Please complete a Commission Bid Form (PDF file), giving your maximum price limit for the lot/lots you are interested in. This must be scanned into an email to us along with a minimum of two proofs of identity which can be a passport or driver’s licence and a credit card. Please remember that the buyer’s premium and VAT will be added. If we receive two bids of equal value, preference is given to the bid that arrives first.

Online bidding will be available via the-saleroom.com on Saturday  the company will levy a 5% plus vat charge.
