1973 Ford Capri RS 2600 - raced by Norris Miles
Reg. no. VBY 597L
Chassis no. GCECMY 41439
Engine no. Unknown
This Capri is somewhat different to most examples that one sees at classic car events, and there is no mistaking that fact, the car\'s appearance screams performance and lots of fun. When the RS 2600 was introduced, the figures were impressive even by today\'s standards, achieving 0-62mph in 8.6 seconds and a top speed of 124mph.
Our vendor has carried out some initial research on the car and tells us that it was driven by Norris Miles in the late 1980s and early 1990s at Donnington in the Anglo-German races amongst others. Clearly the car has been modified for racing purposes but the lack of paperwork does not allow us to determine when this took place. The 2600cc V6 Ford engine is fitted with Kuglefischer mechanical injection, there are coil springs and disc brakes all round and it has a limited slip differential in the Atlas rear axle. This rather special Capri sits on BBS wheels and has been stored for some years pending a return to the track or road, before which some restoration is required. At present not much of the car\'s history is known but there should be much to discover, once the layers are unravelled; the car is believed to have been in Germany at some stage and possibly Australia, both of which would have provided excellent venues for racing such a car. In the file is a V5c.
