1973 Triumph Stag
Reg. no. CEE 710L
Chassis no. Unknown
Engine no. Unknown
The Stag of 1973 was a new concept for Triumph – instead of a no-frills sports car like the TR series, it was instead envisioned as a luxury sports car, and a four-seater to boot. The company’s sights were set on the American market, where it was hoped the car would compete directly against the Mercedes SL and its ilk. An ambitious target indeed – but the Stag was a worthy effort, with superb Michelotti styling that has aged extremely well, plus an innovative T-bar roof arrangement that provided structural rigidity and safety while retaining the sports car feel. With a wonderful soundtrack from the 3-litre V8 and good handling and ride, the Stag has become one of Britain’s most popular classics, with thousands still on the road and excellent club and specialist support.
This 1973 Stag is in good all-round condition, having been restored at an unknown date in the past. Fitted with the four-speed manual gearbox with overdrive, the only issue that the vendor notes is that the overdrive only functions intermittently - this should not be a difficult problem to sort out. It comes with a V5c and is tax and MOT exempt.
