Lot 2137

1934 Talbot AV65 Six Light Saloon
Reg. no. CGH 614
Chassis no. 36474
Engine no. 1378
Little is known of this Talbot\'s history, apart from the fact that it was sold in Northampton originally and then it disappeared from any club records until 1981 when it appeared in Dumfries. The current owner has had the car since 2006 but thinks that in this time he has covered less than 100 miles, the car being in storage for much of the time. Some recommissioning work has been started and the car has been driven down the road but that work is not complete. In some areas the car requires some improvement, our vendor is unsure whether it was the subject of an older restoration or whether it is a car that has just been kept on the road since it was built and never fully rebuilt. The current owner has had the seats re-trimmed in leather and although there are some minor faults such as a broken filler cap to the oil filter, this car could still be enjoyed. Our vendor does bring to our attention that the steering requires some attention, possibly the result of a worn n/s kingpin or incorrect oversized tyres. Whilst the car creates an imposing image of 1930s luxury, the paintwork, bodywork and chrome on closer inspection will need attention in the future; essentially it is a very useable pre-war car that a new owner could improve whilst enjoying using it. There is a V5c in the file.
