1970 Land Rover 88
Reg. no. DMR 858L
Chassis no. 31500644G
Engine no. Unknown
The Land Rovers produced in the late 1960s and early 1970s are considered amongst the hardest wearing of all models produced. It is quite possibly also the type of classic Land Rover that features strongly in the general public\'s perception of the Land Rover having appeared in several television series and high profile films. Certainly it was whilst the series IIA was in production that sales of utility Land Rovers reached their peak, in 1969–70, when sales of over 60,000 Land Rovers a year were recorded. DMR 858L was despatched on the 15th September 1970 to the Central Army Vehicle Depot, Hilton, Derbyshire, fitted with a 2.25 litre petrol engine. This now fabulous example was restored beteen 2016 and 2017 to a very high standard, at a cost of nearly £15,000, using a new galvanised chassis; the engine has been reconditioned and the body and paintwork are excellent. In the file there is a V5c and a British Motor Industry Heritage Certificate.
