1970 Plymouth Barracuda Fastback - rare RHD example
Reg. no. HDS 592H
Chassis no. Unknown
Engine no. Unknown
The Plymouth Barracuda was available in three formats, notchback, convertible and fastback, with the fastback being the most desirable. There were also many engine variants available to this model - this fastback has a chrysler 5.3 litre V8 engine with a 3-speed automatic gear box. The car\'s previous owner had retired from running his own garage business and decided to find a car to restore with his son, and so purchased this car as he had always wanted a RHD American car. This car is one of a very few number of right hand drive Barracudas in this country which is a great benefit driving on UK roads. When purchased the car was rust free; it was then fully resprayed in a deep metallic purple. The engine bay was also repainted in a matt black as is customary. A complete new interior was also fitted, seats, carpet and door panels. The engine was re-commissioned, and a new stainless steel exhaust system was fitted with two new stainless steel silencers. A set of new chrome \'Crager\' wheels were shipped in from the USA with a brand new set of tyres fitted. The chrome is in excellent condition.
The current owner purchased the car approximately two years ago and after owning the car for a short period one of the piston rings let go, a local garage who deals with classic cars then fully rebuilt the engine with new pistons and rings - at the same time the engine was painted and the engine bay was detailed and a new battery was fitted. At the same time, two brand new fans were fitted - small and large - and hooked up to a digital thermostat which can be set to bring in either fan at different temperatures thus eliminating any chance of overheating. Our vendor describes the car as now being \'a turn key car ready to go\'. The underneath of the car is very clean, recently this was closely inspected and a small gasket leak rectified. The car also has a multi-disc cd player in the glove box hooked up to a stealth head unit with rotates when the engine is turned on. This is a truly stunning car, the like of which would be very hard to find again in this country.
