Lot 2030

1963 Triumph Thunderbird 6T 650cc
Reg. no. 47 GLN
Frame no. DU5585
Engine no. 6T DU 5585
Launched in 1949 the 6T Thunderbird was Triumph\'s answer to the demand for a bigger and more powerful bike for the American market. The largest of Edward Turners OHV parallel twins, the 6T over the years went through various style changes, including a Nacelle around the headlight and a bathtub faring around the back wheel. The American market did not like the bathtub so it was first slimmed down and then dropped. In 1963 the unit construction engine was fitted and then the Thunderbird continued unchanged for the next three years, until the end of production. The bike in the auction is in very original standard condition that has never been restored and it has matching numbers. Our vendor tells us that the 6T starts easily, running and riding well, with no known major faults. In the file is a current V5c and a current MOT that expires in November 2018.
