Lot 2015

Description:

1958 Ariel Huntmaster 650cc
Reg. no. VLE364
Frame no. NLF4114
Engine no. CAPR12369
In 1898 Ariel started building three and four wheeled vehicles, using De-Dion engines. Four years later the first motorcycle was manufactured using a White and Pope unit. Various engines were used in the following years, including MAG and Blackburn. This was soon followed by building a range of in-house designed engines under the guidance of chief designer Val Page and later Edward Turner. After WWII, working closely with BSA, the 650cc Huntmaster was designed using Ariel’s own new frame and an engine based on the BSA A10. The bike in this sale is 1958, which was at the end of the production run. These bikes are currently very under-rated and undervalued. It is said to be in good condition and still running on the standard bore. It has a current V5c.
