1947 Chevrolet Special Deluxe Town Sedan
Reg. no. JMA 784
Chassis no. 1102708788
Engine no. 708788
Formerly relying on four-cylinder cars, Chevrolet introduced an overhead-valve six in 1929, these highly popular six-cylinder Chevrolets helping General Motors\' mainstay out-sell Ford for most of the 1930s. Chevrolets were redesigned for 1940 with a longer wheelbase and a more modern, all new body style, while the \'Special Deluxe\' line-up - Chevrolet\'s best equipped and most expensive - was newly introduced for that year. Somewhat surprisingly, Chevrolets were restyled again for 1941, the last full year of production prior to the USA\'s entry into WW2, emerging longer, lower, wider and more streamlined. The engine was also revised and was now 3,549cc capacity. This example has been stored with no use for a short time. In the file there are numerous bills for parts and work carried out and clearly the car was its owners\' pride and joy for some years, with plenty of expenditure lavished on it. There are a few blemishes on the paintwork, including a scratch to the nearside wing, and some of the brightwork would benefit from re-chroming. In the file there is also a fully illustrated sales brochure for 1941 as well as a V5c.
