Lot 1965

1965 Jaguar Mk. II 2.4 Saloon
Reg. no. GWW 919C
Chassis no. 119012DN
Engine no. BJ4846-8
The new-for-1959 Mk. II Jaguar improved on the Mk. I in most areas; the glass area was greatly increased, giving superb all-round visibility, the heating system was improved, and perhaps most importantly, four-wheel disc brakes were fitted and the suspension redesigned. This made the car much more forgiving when driven fast than the occasionally wayward Mk. I. With luxurious interiors, iconic styling and good performance, even from the 2.4-litre version, these cars certainly lived up to William Lyons’ maxim of ‘space, grace and pace’.
Described by the vendor as being in ‘timewarp’ condition, it is said to drive extremely well and cruise at a sedate 70 on the motorway, made all the more economical by the functioning overdrive. Fitted with whitewall tyres for an added touch of period flair, the car has also recently had £1,100 spent on the braking system. With just three previous owners, it comes with comprehensive history from new including the original logbook, bills, a V5c and an MOT until August next year.
