Bow Top Gypsy Caravan
Reg. no. n/a
Chassis no. n/a
Engine no. n/a
Wagons to live in rather than carry possessions, were developed in France in about 1810, and in England these were probably first used by showmen travelling between fairs and circuses from the 1820s. Gypsies only started living in them from about 1850. This traditional bow top example appears to be in generally good condition and is fitted out inside with a bed, cupboards, seating and a wood burning stove. It has been in current ownership for about 10 years awaiting some improvement, which sadly has not yet happened. These caravans are a rare sight now and a new custodian is needed to give it a new lease of life.
