Lot 1938

Description:

1971 Triumph TR6
Reg. no. WTA 238K
Chassis no. CP539820
Engine no. CP539 14HE
The TR6 became the best selling model in the TR range by the time that production ended; amazingly of the nearly 92,000 examples built, 83,500 were exported. The bodywork was generally similar to the TR4/5, but the front and back ends were squared off. In terms of performance, the UK version could accelerate to 60mph in 8.2 seconds and it had a credible top speed of 120mph, according to Autocar magazine. Such a driving experience is still rated today amongst enthusiasts and the TR6 is highly regarded, if a little undervalued still. This TR6 was purchased from the previous long-term owner in 2009 having had, by then, six previous owners. The intention of the present keeper was to make it into one of the best 150bhp TR6s available. It started with a complete body off restoration, all photographs are available in the file, from chassis to total body and engine rebuild. Our vendor feels that the car has some of the best panel fits and shut lines, possibly even better than new. It was then decided to fit electronic fuel injection as the original system was very intermittant; this could easily be returned to the original. Due to personal circumstances, the car was never finished but it would take very little expense to make the car one of the best available. It is sold here with a V5c and a selection of bills.
