Lot 1936

Description:

1963 Alfa Romeo Giulia Spider 1600
Reg. no. SPY 269C
Chassis no. AR375343
Engine no. AR0012101746
The Giulia succeeded the Giulietta in 1962, and it was a name that covered three not directly related models, the second of which we offer here, an updated Spider. This range offered two engine sizes, a 1.3 and a 1.6 litre. The Spider, powered by the 1.6 litre unit is easy to distinguish from the Giulietta, because it featured a bonnet bulge to clear the slightly taller engine. This beautiful example was imported from the USA in 1990 having started life as a Nomale, later upgraded to 1600cc using a genuine Veloce block. It subsequently underwent a complete restoration by marque specialist John Holden which included a bare metal strip and examination, followed by a respray with all the necessary preparatory undercoats. All of the original brightwork was re-chromed rather than being replaced with new parts. The car was fitted with a new clutch, new brake linings, a new battery and alternator. In addition the front suspension was upgraded, the engine was overhauled and the underside was waxoyled. Where possible as many of the original fittings have been retained including the original seats, steering wheel and instruments. Like so many other Alfas, we are told that the car is fast and drives very well. It is offered here with a V5c, a reconditioned car radio and a file containing bills, a current MOT etc.
