1979 Maico 400cc Scrambler
Reg. no. Not road registered
Frame no. 3410029
Engine no. R73372040
German company Maico produced road-going motorcycles, scooters, Grand Prix racers and even a few micro-cars in its 60-year history, but it is for its motocross machines that the company was and is best-known. Despite lacking the financial clout of some of its rivals, the small firm nevertheless managed to produce some very successful bikes, with some of their products from the 1970s in particular being regarded as some of the best motocross bikes of their era. Maico went out of business in 1986, but their products have retained a loyal following.
This 1979 Maico is a 400cc scrambler; it is in good all-round condition and is said to run very well, and to be extremely quick, if a bit of a handful as one may expect! It has benefitted from a new £250 Electrex ignition system.
