Lot 1906

1954 BSA C11G
Reg. no. 801 UYO
Frame no. BC11511563
Engine no. BC11G 8872
The pre-unit BSA C11 was developed just before the Second World War, and the new overhead-valve-equipped 250cc bike replaced the side-valve C10 in 1939. Although not widely used by the British Army, several hundred were built during the war for the Indian Army, and production and development continued pot-war. The C11G model brought an improved gearbox and brakes, while in 1951 the model was upgraded with plunger rear suspension. Actor Steve McQueen was a famous C11 owner, his example being painted in the eye-catching scheme of British Racing Green with a chrome tank and gold accents.
This C11G has been treated to a restoration at some point in the past before the current vendor’s 3-year ownership; it remains in good all-round condition, but the vendor does advise that it may need new valve guides, as the engine is a little smoky. It comes with a V5c.
