Another old manufacturer dating back to the late 1800s, originally producing bicyles, James was founded by William James. By the late 30s and during the war there was only two models in production, the 98cc autocycle and the ML 122cc. The ML was sold in large numbers to the WD and were dropped by parachute on D-Day, helping troop mobility. They were then taken over in 1951 by AMC and ran alongside Francis Barnett. The bike in the auction is a 197cc, which was a very popular model post war. It has a current V5C, an old MOT certificate and sundry correspondence.
