Lot 1874

1948 AJS 500cc
Reg. no. XSY 330
Frame no. 016113
Engine no. 48/18 5683B
As one of the oldest motorcycle manufacturers, AJS were known for their innovative engine designs in the 1920s and 1930s and the company produced the 350cc and 500cc OHV singles until the late 1960s with very few changes. They proved very popular, being known for their reliability and still have a big following today for road use and pre-65 trials. Our vendor tells us that this example was originally built as a trials bike and the engine and gearbox are by repute from a different frame. The bike is in good overall condition and is sold with a V5c.
