Lot 1859

1958 Ariel Square 4 Mk. II 1000cc
Reg. no. YSV 688
Frame no. CGM1773
Engine no. CNML1817
The Mk. II Square Four first appeared in 1953, known as the \'four pipers\', as it had two exhaust ports either side of the engine. Edward Turner first conceived the concept of the Square Four in 1932 when it was an SOHC 500cc. He then developed it to 600cc SOHC, then the 600cc OHV and finally a 1000cc OHV. The bike in the auction is in very original condition, it was the last year of manufacture for the Square Four and has been with the present owner for 45 years. It has always been kept in dry storage but has not been run for some time, so will need recommissioning. It is sold with a current V5c and a V5.
