Lot 1857

Description:

1962 James SC4 149cc Scooter
Reg. no. 847 60P
Frame no. FSC4 1710
Engine no. 15A 2705M
James were prolific bicycle and motor cycle manufacturers in Birmingham, and they were in business from 1897 to 1966. They were taken over by AMC in 1951 following which they used a wide range of Villiers two stroke engines and later the AMC two stroke engines. This example was used daily until 1971 and then was put into dry storage until 2015. Following this lay-up, the scooter was then partly restored and we are advised that it still runs. The fuel tank has been rebuilt, there are new clutch plates fitted and new plugs, fuel pipe and tap. The overall condition is said to be fair and it is offered here with a current V5c.
