Lot 1851

1919 Scott 600cc
Reg. no. AF 2314
Frame no. 1718
Engine no. 6046
A.A. Scott launched the Scott Company in West Yorkshire during 1908; he persevered with the 2-cylinder two stroke engine throughout until production ended in 1969. There were various competition successes including the Isle of Man TT before WW1 and during the war, they received a contract to produce motor cycles and motor cycle combinations for the War Department. During the 1920s and 1930s Scott made various developments, including a 3-cylinder two stroke 750cc, but by 1950 the company was in financial trouble and they went into liquidation. It was acquired by Matt Holder who moved production to Birmingham; this finally ended in 1978. The bike in the auction was restored in 1988 when the present owner bought it in a dismantled state. The engine has not run for some time but the bike appears to be in good overall condition; it is offered here with a current V5c.
