Circa 1950 Simson
Reg. no. Unknown
Frame no. Unknown
Engine no. 46788
Simson was a German company producing firearms in 1856; in 1920 they started car production but this was short-lived and ended later in the 1920s. They continued just producing many small arms for the German Government; in the mid 1930s the factory was taken over by the German State and the Simson family fled the country, as they were Jewish. After WWII the factory was taken over by the Soviet State, as it was then in East Germany. The name of Simson was re-introduced in the 1950s and produced a range of mopeds and a small amount of motorcycles. We know very little about the bike in the auction but it does appear to be very complete.
